Mobile Workforce Applications

Passport's mobile workforce management applications enable accurate data capture, efficient information access and real-time visibility into front-line operations. Integrated with Time and Labor, ERP, Work Order and Dispatch systems, Passport's mobile applications span labor tracking, shop floor data collection, mobile dispatch, work order management, inspections and asset management. As the mobile solutions partner for market leaders such as ADP and Kronos, Passport is the expert in "anywhere, anytime" labor tracking to streamline payroll, improve job costing and increase operational efficiency.

Passport's applications have usability and adoption at their core, designed for the needs of mobile workers ("simple and fast"), the way they interact with mobile devices ("point and click") and the real world of mobile connectivity ("online or offline"). Three modes of operation are available to work the way your business works:

  • Group Mode - supervisors record data on behalf of a team or crew with a single click, so only the supervisor uses a mobile device
  • Kiosk Mode - multiple employees working in the same location each enter and review their own transactions at a shared device
  • Individual Mode - mobile employees who work independently, such as service technicians, capture and access their relevant information throughout the day

Server-side administration, dynamic forms and publish/subscribe update options allow for a high degree of flexibility and configuration options to address business and usage requirements without requiring customization of code. Data accuracy is assured with field-level validation, scheduled or ad-hoc data refresh, real-time error handling and the ability to scan bar codes directly from work orders. Security is enforced with password protection, employee badge scanning (optional), transaction audit trail and data encryption.

The result is rich functionality and application sophistication combined with ease of use.

Devices and Connectivity

All Passport applications run on industry standard Microsoft Windows-based PDAs, rugged handhelds, smartphones, tablet PCs, laptops and desktops. Customers can leverage existing hardware investments or choose from a variety of proven devices based on user requirements and environmental considerations.

Robust functionality is delivered whether the user is operating real-time online or disconnected offline. Regardless of connectivity, all screens and forms are available, cached data is accessible, local validation is enforced and transactions can be saved for later transmission. When a device regains connectivity, saved transactions are automatically sent with no intervention needed from the user. Passport applications support any wired or wireless networks, including wireless LAN (802.11 WiFi), wireless WAN (cellular), WiMAX, satellite and cradle synch.

To make these solutions powerful yet user-friendly, Passport offers the industry's first intelligent thin-client platform to support rich mobile applications available seamlessly online or offline. This architectural approach delivers the best of rich asynchronous Java/XML and browser applications while adding store-and-forward for offline transactions, locally-cached forms and reference data, access to local APIs (e.g. bar code scanning, signature capture, digital images, GPS, RFID), session persistence to survive network interruptions, and guaranteed transaction delivery regardless of connection quality.
